Rabab Burhanuddin
Writer and Creative Practitioner
Rabab Burhanuddin is a Karachi-based writer and creative practitioner currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Social Development and Policy at Habib University. Her work brings together an interest in society, human behaviour, storytelling, and visual culture with experience spanning writing, digital content and creative entrepreneurship.
Her essay, ‘Sentient or Simulated? Can AI Ever Mimic Human Emotion?’, was recognised among the top 30% of over 6,000 applicants for the Northeastern University London. It explores contemporary questions around technology, human experience and the qualities of emotion that remain distinctly human.
This interest in writing extends into her contribution to ‘The Quivering Whispers From Within’, an anthology featuring 30 writers from across Pakistan. Her piece uses nature, political divisions, and personal experience as symbols to examine shifting relationships between individuals and society.
Her interest in storytelling also informs her work as a co-founder of ‘The Mom and Pop Shop’, where she works across the creative and operational sides of the business. Her role includes content creation, digital storytelling, video editing, advertising, social media, operations, and logistics. She has produced short-form video content, developed visual and written communications, and contributed to the day-to-day growth and management of the business.
Across these practices, Rabab is interested in how people, ideas, and systems shape one another. She continues to build a practice at the intersection of society, art, technology, and human experience, moving between writing, content, and cultural documentation.
