BIO

Tazeen Hussain is an Associate Professor of Practice, Communication and Design at the Habib University. Her interests include the re-examination of design education in relation to its socio-political impact, environment and sustainability in Pakistan.

Her recent projects include, ‘Editing Women in the Archives’, a digital archive of women led publications from Pakistan, with Teeside University and PAWPE, Critical Design Education and Practice funded by US — Pakistan University Partnerships Grants Program with IVS, Karachi Art Directory with Karachi Biennale Trust, Imparting education on Climate Change to vulnerable communities-UN GRIP with Indus Earth Trust. She is one of the founding members of The Karachi Collectiv. Her research has been published nationally and internationally.

Tazeen is the Chair of Design, ADA Awards (4th and 5th cycle), Advisory Board member, Gandhara Film Festival and on the Board of Studies of various design institutions across Pakistan. Hussain also has an active media practice working as an Actor and Voice over Artist.

Her recent publications span design research, digital culture, and archival practices, including a 2025 co-authored paper on digital memes as stress relief for women in Pakistan, and forthcoming and recent book chapters such as Socially Responsive Design Guide and Editing Women in the Archives (2026). She has also contributed essays and articles to leading platforms like JADEP and ICONICA Magazine, alongside presenting her research at major forums including the Karachi Biennial.
